Introduction to Operational Roles & Terms

To understand the PDM we need to first explain the basic role structure under which it is constructed and Standard terms used.

This PDM Demo will review the major areas of the PDM showing screen shots that either a owner or client would see during a typical ordering process for both the owner and the client.

4 Main Roles within the PDM:

1 Owner - is the company which signs up to provide PDM services to their clients. i.e. Print Broker, Printer or Manufacturer.
1 Client - An Owner's Clients - which could be a single company or departments with in a large company
1

Vendor/Warehouse - A provider of manufactured products (finished printed material or products) and or provide storage of inventory products.

Product - Owner and Client specific goods.

Within the PDM 2 main roles are further sub divided:

11
Owner Administrator - this level of user has access to Owner related default settings and is responsible for Owner user account management within the PDM System.

11
Owner User - an owner user has access to basic account functions and features as set by the Owner Administrator, and can access client related information.
1 Client Administrator - this level of user has access to system wide rule default settings and user management within the PDM System.

1
Client User - this level provides access with the PDM to basic account functions and features as set by the Administrator.

Access and available functions are assigned from the top down with the
client user having the least amount of access and features available within the PDM.

Description
1
Client
Release
This is an order that a CLIENT would place to have their inventory shipped to what ever location they need. The CLIENT logs in and views all available inventory and clicks on the pieces they want - enters the quantity and clicks to have processed - A notice is automatically sent to the OWNER telling them a Release Order has been placed.
11
Owner
Pull/Pick
Once notified a release order has been placed, the OWNER clicks on that order selects the quantity they want to take (Pull/Pick) from which warehouse and a complete set of instructions for the warehouse is created on what to ship and where to ship to. OWNER can include Bin location #'s within the warehouse to further reduce the shipping time.
11
Owner
Shipping
Once the warehouse notifies the OWNER of a shipment the original Release order is then reclassified as a Shipping Order. The client and the OWNER then have the ability to track the ship with the warehouse provided tracking number directly with the shipping companies web site.
1
Client
Restocking
If CLIENTs inventory on hand goes below a predefined level then the CLIENT is alerted and has the option of placing a Restocking Order on an automatic or authorization required basis. OWNERs are notified when Restocking Orders are placed.
